General Conference

Just a reminder about General Conference this weekend.  Both Saturday and Sunday sessions are at Noon and 4pm.  Hope everyone gets a chance to watch and enjoy :-)

Happy Birthday Megan Scofield

I'm a couple days late with this, I apologize, but we want to wish a happy (belated) birthday to Megan Scofield, her birthday was on February 22.  So if you get a chance, wish her a happy birthday.  She is a very fun loving awesome person and we love having her in the branch!  Hope you had a great day Megan and a wonderful year!

Happy Birthday Abbie Eden

We want to wish a very happy birthday to Abbie Eden!!!  Abbie is such a sweet person and a great addition to make our branch even more amazing.  We hope you have a great day and an awesome year! And also congratulations on the wedding coming up in a month!!! :-)

Happy Birthday Lisa Hoffman!

Say hello to one of our favorite Relief Society Ladies

Jennavier is the oldest of five children- four biological and one extra.  Even though she grew up in a small Wyoming town of a few hundred located inside Yellowstone Nation Park, by the time she left she says she'd met people from almost every country in the world!

Her adventures in State College all started when "a really cute friend came back into town for Christmas vacation and stole her heart away."  We all know how lucky we are that  Jonathan, a graduate from Penn State's Dickinson's school of law, brought her back to the branch. In describing their decision to get married Jennavier says, that he "one day decided that instead of sky diving and doing complicated puzzles for excitement he was going to marry me."  But if you've spent any time with Jennavier you know she's much more fun than complicated puzzles and sky diving anyway!

After attending LDS Business College for a year, she's now working on finishing her associates in Business Transfer through BYU's independent study program and looking forward to getting a bachelors in Accounting and Economics.
Perhaps what you might not know about Jennavier is that she is working on her own novel "which she says is coming very slowly," and though she doesn't always enjoy writing its very important to her.  Additionally, her talents include the ability to throw stack of coins with her elbow and catch them with her hand.  One I think we'd all like to see her demonstrate.

In her spare time Jennavier enjoys reading, hiking and enjoying nature.  Her favorite color is purple.   
Jennavier has been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all her life, and is inspired by the books of Ester and Ruth as her favorite scriptures.  Of her experience growing up in the church Jennavier writes "I couldn't be more grateful to have had such a blessing, its been the bulwark of my life."

Happy Birthday Christy T!

Happy Birthday (Feb 3rd) to Christy Turnbow!!!!  She has been a new member to the branch within the past year and we LOVE having her; she is such an amazing person!!!!  We hope you have a great year Christy!  We love you and we love having you in the branch :-)

Rachael Burnham

 

RACHAEL BURNHAM

Rachael Burnham was born on March 27 and has lived in Idaho for most of her life.  She is here with us because she got married less than a year ago (May 21, 2011) to Daniel Burnham and she came out here with him so he could finish school and playing soccer.   

Rachael’s dad is some a small town in Idaho and her mom is from Salem, Oregon.  Rachael is the oldest of four (she has three little brother)  Her favorite food includes anything cooked by her mom, her favorite sport is soccer, her favorite college football team is Boise State and her favorite scripture is Alma 7:23--- '

 23 “And now I would that ye should be ^ahumble, and be ^bsubmissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.”
Rachael’s mom was a high-jumper and on the volleyball team for Boise State and ever still holds the indoor record for high jump (6ft)!!!  Her dad was in the army for 22 years and flew Apache helicopters and would often land in the fields of Rachael’s schools.  He was also deployed to Bosnia for 9 months when Rachael was 11.
Rachael’s talents include piano, violin, some guitar, soccer, and running track.
Testimony- “I am so thankful for this gospel, and how it has changed my life. I'm so glad I got to be sealed to my best friend for time and all eternity in the temple, so that our children can be with us forever. I know that Heavenly Father is very mindful of us, and loves us more than we can even comprehend. I am thankful for our Savior Jesus Christ, and his atonement, so we can repent and return to live with Him someday.”

Rachael is such an amazing person.  She is always willing to go above and beyond for people and can light up the room with that smile of hers.  We are so grateful to have her (and Daniel of course) in the branch!  We love you Rachael!!!
